HARAJUKU
This is where Tokyo’s Pop Culture is born every day! From JR Yamanote line’s Harajuku Station toward Meiji Shrine is where the youngsters in variety of costumes such as anime-themed clothing gather around. They come to Harajuku even from the far outside Tokyo to show off their mostly handmade clothing on every weekend.
In Harajuku town, there are major international brands such as Zara, Gap and H&M on high street as well as unique small boutiques on the narrow back streets. It also has the infamously crowded Takeshita Dori (ie. Takeshita Street) in front of Harajuku Station. There also is a famous Japanese 100 Yen Shop Department “Daiso” on Takeshita Dori. Pop in and you will find how many items you can buy with just 100 yen! It sure is fun!
OMOTE SANDO
Past Harajuku’s crowded area is a pleasant, more adult aimed Omote Sando. You can enjoy just walking around the wide street of Omote Sando by browsing views and boutiques without buying anything.
Looking for some souvenir? Why don’t you drop in at Kiddy Land or Oriental Bazaar on Omote Sando street. Kiddy Land is a large toy store where is full of character items from Japanese original (like Hello Kitty) to world wide one (like Star Wars), while you can find traditional Japanese souvenirs such as Kimono robes, ceramics and T-shirts with Japanese words at Oriental Bazaar.
There are plenty enough cafes and restaurants for you to have a break from a walk.
