Shibuya is one of the most popular and busiest towns in Tokyo.
It has the famous scramble crossing right in front of Shibuya station that you often see on TV as a typical Tokyo’s image. It can be quite impressive to witness hundreds of Japanese people start crossing without bumping into each other when all the traffic lights turn green at once!
Shibuya is spread like spider web around the train station as its core. The town offers department stores, large shopping buildings, thousands of restaurants and cafes. For shopping, you can visit Loft, Parco, 109 (pronounce a Ichi-Maru-Kyu, not one-oh-nine as there is another building called One-Oh-Nine), Tokyu Hands, Seibu Department Stores and Tokyu Department Stores.
From the station, it’s best if you take Hachiko exit to go into town rather than South, East or West exits. You can just LITERALLY follow the crowds and browse around as you feel, and spend a day just like that!
It is an easy 15 minute walk to next popular towns like Harajuku or Omote Sando by walking along high steets such as Meiji Street or Miyamasu-Zaka Street.
